Glad to see you are interested in who we are! Here at Shirley Dentistry we specialize in comfortable, long-term relationships. Every member of our staff was carefully selected for their caring and enthusiastic personalities. Fun, vibrant, and upbeat smiles greet you at the door, and stay by your side throughout the entire visit. Laughter accompanies most visits to our office.
In addition to the friendly and comfortable atmosphere at Shirley Dentistry, you will find that our staff is professional, thorough, and very well trained. Dr. Shirley offers a very comprehensive array of dental and oral surgery services so that you can take care of all your needs in one office. All of our staff has the training to make you comfortable while we make sure you have the best oral health possible.
Levi Shirley
DDS FAGD
Dr. Levi Shirley is a native of Texas who moved to Aurora in the Fall of 2005. His college career began at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After taking a sabbatical from college to serve a church mission in Chile, he returned to BYU and graduated with a degree in zoology. He received his doctorate of dental surgery from The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 2003. After graduation, Dr. Shirley spent two years honing his skills in the National Health Service Corps. He started his own dental practice in Aurora, Missouri in 2005. Dr. Shirley is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater Springfield Dental Society.
Dr. Shirley is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He currently serves as the Director of Continuing Education and Mastertrack Director for the Missouri Academy and as a Delegate to the National AGD House.
Dr. Shirley has a genuine passion for dentistry. He understands how dental disease and orofacial problems can affect overall health and well-being. Dr. Shirley constantly strives to help patients learn to love and appreciate their smiles.
Dr. Shirley married his beautiful wife, Amber, in 1998. They are parents of five wonderful children. Family activities center around church, school, sports, and the outdoors.
Summer Sumners
Front Desk
Summer has been with Shirley Dentistry since 2012. She began her career as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, gaining hands-on patient experience starting in 2008. In 2018, she transitioned to the front desk, where her clinical background allows her to help patients every day. She enjoys guiding patients through their treatment plans, scheduling appointments, and ensuring they feel comfortable from the moment they arrive or call.
Outside of work, Summer loves spending time with her family and beekeeping with her husband. They also enjoy trips to the lake and are learning about homesteading, embracing a simpler, more grounded lifestyle together.
April Standefer
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)
April has been a dedicated part of the Shirley Dentistry team for 18 years and brings over 25 years of experience as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. Her passion for patient care, attention to detail, and upbeat personality help create a welcoming and comfortable environment for every patient.
Known for her love of singing and keeping the office atmosphere light and fun, April always finds a way to make her coworkers and patients smile. When she’s not in the office, she enjoys camping, attending concerts with her family, reading a good book, and spending time with her husband, two kids, and two dogs.
Erin Lucke
Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA)
Erin is a highly experienced Expanded Function Dental Assistant at Shirley Dentistry, with over 20 years in the dental field. She is known for her gentle touch, attention to detail, and dedication to patient comfort. Erin takes pride in creating a welcoming, stress-free experience for everyone who walks through the door.
When she’s not in the office, Erin enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She loves being outdoors—especially horseback riding and camping with her family.
Hannah White
Dental Hygienist
Hannah joined Shirley Dentistry in January 2024 and has been a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2021. She earned her Dental Hygiene Associates degree from Missouri Southern State University, where she also studied biology and chemistry extensively. Before becoming a hygienist, she spent four years as an Oral Surgery Assistant. Hannah is an active member of the Missouri Dental Hygienists’ Association as well as the American Dental Hygienists’ Association.
Hannah takes pride in providing gentle, thorough care and values the personal connection she builds with patients. She is passionate about educating patients on proper oral care to support their health and comfort.
Outside work, Hannah cherishes time spent with her husband and toddler on their hobby farm. She also finds joy in baking, growing in her faith, and enjoying family at get-togethers.
Melissa Faucett
Dental Hygienist
Melissa is a registered dental hygienist who earned her A.A.S. degree at Rhodes State College in Lima, Ohio, in May 2023. She pursued her bachelor’s degree in teaching while in hygiene school and also holds a diploma in dental assisting. She is an active member of the ADHA and MDHA. Before hygiene school, Melissa grew up in Fairgrove, Missouri, and later moved to Indiana and Ohio, where she was a stay-at-home mom for 11 years but never gave up on her passion to become a hygienist.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors with her son, Kaden, and her Great Dane, Peach.
